The Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership

Capacity Building Conference

Tuesday, September 29, 2009
8:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m.
Robeson Campus Center, Rutgers Newark

As nonprofit organizations face new challenges to increase capacity through stronger leadership and better Board/CEO relationships, the power through partnership at the executive and board level becomes evermore vital to the health and survival of the organization. With the recognition that there is a shared responsibility to work towards greater capacity building, this conference has been especially designed to encourage and facilitate dialogue between the ED/CEO and the Board Chair to promote a model of mutual problem solving; therefore, in order to reap the greatest benefit from this format, it is key that the Board Chair (or another member of the Executive Committee) attend along with the ED/CEO. We encourage you to contact your Board Chair now about this important program.

For those ED/CEOs whose Board Chair is not available to attend, there is a special workshop based on a peer consulting modality led by professional facilitators that will address common issues followed by next steps towards potential outcomes as well as a problem solving model.

In addition, we have a unique program for middle managers who have been selected by their organization as future leaders. The workshop will cover the Role of the CEO, Human Resource, and Advocacy. It is essential to create our future leaders through mentoring and training, and programs such as these are a necessary step in that direction.

This conference is funded by The Prudential Foundation and Victoria Foundation and presented by the Center for Nonprofit and Philanthropic Leadership in partnership with Partnership in Philanthropy, Pro Bono Partnership, Leadership Newark, The Center for Non-Profit Corps., and the Nonprofit Finance Fund. Breakfast and lunch are provided by a grant from PSE&G.
